TURNIERE
Tournament sport should be adapted to the age and ability level, because this tactical game is not only about the basic training of technique, tactics and athleticism, but also about the development and improvement of the competitive psyche (what level of preparedness do I have? Do I have my emotions under control? How do I implement my tactics despite distractions and resistance? What willpower do I have and what am I even prepared to do?). Quite simply: all of this "gaining experience under competitive conditions in order to build a successful game."
For this reason, tournament trips are an integral part of training. They are a training tool, and only the trainer is involved in the development of his protégé and can build him up with his experience.
What did we train? What can be implemented in a match? How does the player react to external influences? How does he or she behave in matches at different skill levels? What happens next with the analysis of the matches? Can the positive and negative results be incorporated and processed into the next training session or phase? All of this can only be done with the coach present, not through third parties.
The number and quality of matches per year play a role in allowing a player's personality to develop under professional guidance! The prerequisite is the fundamental question: "Do I want to become a champion, and am I willing to give my all?"
Of course, youth results are important for the rankings, allowing you to compare yourself to others, but this is of secondary importance in the overall development. There's nothing wrong with successes and titles; they're won casually in youth, they build self-confidence, and that's important! Accumulating results counts; routines become established, and that's the long-term development and building process!
Requirements for tournament trips:
Offer yourself in training through your attitude and willingness to perform
This must be considered with chronological importance:
1. Athletics / Fitness
2. Self-confidence
3. Mental strength
4. Tactics
5. Technology
By applying all of these points, you have a chance of winning the tournament.
Career planning:
Only when tournament tennis is played regularly (U12 – approx. 40-50 matches, U14 – approx. 50-60 matches, U16 – approx. 50-70 matches) and at the appropriate level (tournament flair) can career planning be undertaken. The systematic development of an athlete requires time, trust, and clear rules for the team, athletes, parents, and coaches.
Tournament phases (approx. 20 tournaments per year)
1st phase: approx. 3 – 4 tournaments between November and December.
2nd phase: approx. 3 – 4 tournaments between February and March
3rd phase: Preparation tournaments / association games etc.
4th phase: approx. 2 - 3 tournaments during the holidays
